Choose the finished size and orientation first, then split into columns and rows. Print at 100% or actual size, test one sheet, and use overlapping margins to align the final poster.
Define the finished layout
Four A4 sheets can mean 2×2 or 4×1, which creates a completely different poster. Measure the display area and decide the paper orientation.
A4 is 210×297 mm, but printer margins and overlap may slightly change the assembled size.
Match the aspect ratio
If the source image and poster have different proportions, either cropping or empty margins are unavoidable. Keep faces and important text away from cut lines.
Do not stretch width or height independently; that distorts people, logos and circles.
Split and print accurately
Select the sheet size, orientation, columns and rows, then save each numbered page. Keep the filenames so the order remains obvious.
Print using 100% or Actual Size when dimensions matter. First print one sheet and measure it before using more ink and paper.

Assemble cleanly
Trim one side of a margin and overlap it on the neighboring sheet. Align first, temporarily tape, inspect the complete poster, then secure it from the back.
